Dental exams & cleanings that keep small things small.
The best way to prevent problems with your teeth and gums is routine care. Brushing and flossing do a lot, and a checkup twice a year does the rest: we catch cavities and gum disease early, when they’re simplest to treat, and send you home feeling clean.

Why every six months
A checkup now saves a bigger visit later.
Visiting your dentist regularly keeps your teeth and gums healthy, and keeps treatment simple when something does come up.
Prevent decay, gum disease and bad breath
Brushing and flossing do a lot, but they can’t remove hardened tartar. A professional cleaning clears what home care leaves behind.
Save money on bigger treatment
A small cavity caught early is a simple filling. Left alone, it can turn into a root canal or crown.
Keep your teeth whiter
Polishing lifts the surface staining that coffee, tea, wine and other foods and drinks leave behind.
Spend less time in the chair
Regular visits stay quick and comfortable. When it’s been years, there’s more buildup to remove and more to repair.
A smile that lasts a lifetime
Seeing the same team twice a year means we know your history and notice when something changes.
At your visit
What happens at your checkup.
An exam with your dentist and a professional cleaning with your hygienist, then you head home knowing you’ve taken care of an important part of your overall health.
Nervous about the dentist?
Let your hygienist know. Cleanings usually aren’t painful, and sedation options are available to keep you comfortable.
Your dental exam
Your dentist thoroughly examines your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gum disease and other health problems.
X-rays, when you need them
Digital X-rays let your dentist find problems that can’t be seen with the naked eye, like decay between teeth or below the gumline.
Cavity and gum check
Your hygienist checks each tooth for cavities, looks at existing fillings, and measures your gums to make sure they’re attached firmly with no sign of gum disease or bone loss.
Cleaning, polish and fluoride
Hard mineral buildup (tartar) is carefully removed, then your teeth are flossed, polished and finished with fluoride.
Your home-care plan
You leave with recommendations for your brushing and flossing routine. If we find decay or gum disease, we’ll talk through your options.
If we find something
Follow-up care, under one roof.
Gum treatment
Deep cleaning and ongoing care when a checkup shows signs of periodontal disease.
Oral cancer screening
A quick, painless check for early warning signs in your mouth and throat.
Dental crowns
Protects a tooth weakened by a large cavity, crack or an old, failing filling.
Root canals
Saves a tooth when decay reaches the nerve, before it becomes an emergency.
Teeth whitening
For a brighter smile beyond what polishing alone can do.
Common questions
Exams & cleanings FAQ
Have another question about your checkup? Call us and we’ll be glad to help.
- How often should I get a dental checkup and cleaning?
- The American Dental Association recommends a checkup every six months. If you have gum disease or other ongoing concerns, your dentist may recommend coming in more often.
- What happens during a dental exam?
- Your dentist examines your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gum disease and other health problems. X-rays may be taken to see what’s happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums.
- Do dental cleanings hurt?
- Cleanings usually aren’t painful. If you feel anxious about your visit, let your hygienist know. Sedation options are available to keep you comfortable.
- Do I need X-rays at every visit?
- Not always. Your dentist will recommend X-rays when they’re needed to find problems that can’t be seen during the exam, such as decay between teeth or bone loss.
- What if you find a cavity or gum disease?
- We’ll explain what we found and talk with you about changes to your brushing and flossing habits. In more serious cases we may recommend antibiotics or other treatment, most of which we provide right here in our office.
- It’s been years since my last cleaning. Is that a problem?
- Not at all, and there’s no judgment here. We’ll start with a thorough exam, explain where things stand and build a plan to get your teeth and gums back to health.

Kind words from our patients
I know most people hate the dentist but I love it! And it especially helps having such a great dental team that I know I can trust. I love leaving with my teeth feeling clean and well cared for. Dr. Bryan and his assistants (both Jess and Aliya) are so kind and caring.

My experience with Dr. Labin has been nothing but positive! I have been going to him for years and he is very gentle, making sure his patients are comfortable before he starts any procedure. The staff, from the office staff to the dental hygienists, are all professional and go above and beyond.
